About Haugtun

Haugtun is an old smallholding
with roots going all the way back to the middle ages. A lot of people have
lived and worked here for hundreds of years. We are close to the sky,
in beautiful nature, with traces of time.

The property consists
of eight buildings: Johannesgården, drengestua, the view, the guesthouse,
the workshop, the post office, the storehouse and the barn. The oldest building
is «drengestua» that goes all the way back to the 18th century, and the
guesthouse was finished around 1920. The farm was in operation up to 1950, and
has since been a health center, a union center for a
student society, and later a place for courses and accommodations. We, Kristin Søbstad and Morten Lossius bought the place in 2021 and run it now as a home-stay guest house and place for courses, seminars, parties, an cultural activities.

We are keeping our gates open in the coming future, whether you want a simple overnight stay or rent the place over a longer period. Here, you will find peace and time for your
loved ones in charming surroundings.

We can assist you with necessary technological equipment, a rich variety of board games and wood for the fireplace. We even have a sauna that our guests can enjoy.

Accommodation

Our guesthouse, the red log house, is a hundred years old. It has been in use as the main building of the farm, as a health center, a union center, and now as a guesthouse. The house has a rustic vibe to it and has traces from different eras.

The guesthouse have eleven rooms on the second floor. The toilets are communal. Bedding and towels is included.

You will find showers in the ladies and gentlemen’s wardrobe that is located on the lower floor next to the sauna.

The main floor has two livingrooms and a dining room which are communal. There is also a small guest kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, kettle and coffee maker.

If you rather like a private bathroom, livingroom avnd kitchen, we do have two apartments and a house as an optional accomodation.

Food and drinks

We do not have a restaurant at Haugtun. The apartments and drengestua is based upon guests to practise self-catering. The same applies for the ones staying in the guesthouse out of high season.

The guesthouse has got a small communal guest kitchen where you’ll find everything you need to cook a successful meal. It also has a refrigerator and shelves to store food in.

In case you have forgotten to bring your own food, you can purchase some breakfast ingredients in our farmshop- krambua.

Things to do

At Haugtun you are close to the sky, surrounded by beautiful nature with traces of time. You can stroll around our farm taking in the view or gaze at the stars next to the bonfire. During the summer you might want to try an old Norwegian game called «Horseshoe», and during the winter months you can go skiing down the hills.

It is also quite nice just relaxing in front of the fireplace indoors, and we are happy to lend you one of our many board games. If it is cold outside you might want to try our sauna.

We recommend you stop by our small farmshop- Krambua to see locally produced crafts among other things.
