About Haugtun

Haugtun is an old smallholding with roots going all the way back to the middle ages. A lot of people have lived and worked here for hundreds over years. Here we are, close to the sky, in beautiful nature, with traces of time.

The property consists of nine buildings: Johannesgården, drengestua, the brick house, the guesthouse, the workshop, the post office, the storehouse and the barn. The oldest building is «drengestua» that goes all the way back to the 18th century, and the guesthouse was finished around 1920. The farm was in operation up to 1950, and has since been a health center, a union center for the Norwegian Christian Student Society, and later a place for courses and accommodations led by a group of union members. We bought the place in 2017 – Jarl Øyvind Johnsen and Anita Belinda Halvorsen Haugtun.

We are keeping our gates open in the coming future, whether you want a simple overnight stay or rent the place over a longer period. Here, you will find peace and time for you love dones in charming surroundings.

We can assist you with necessary technological equipment, a rich variety of board games and wood for the fireplace. We even have a sauna that our guests can enjoy.

Very good

The guesthouse is almost a hundred years old, and has been used as the main building of the farm, a health center, a union center, and now as a guesthouse. The house has a rustic vibe to it and has traces from different eras. A simple standard and a high charm factor.

We have eleven rooms on the second floor. Some of the rooms have washbasins, while others have it outside in the hall. The toilets are communal. Every rooms is different and have beds that can be assembeled together or kept seperataly – whatever suits you best. Bedding and towels is included.

You will find showers in the ladies and gentlemen’s wardrobe that is located on the lower floor next to the sauna.

The main floor has a living room, fireplace and dining room ready for use. There is also a TV and a small guest kitchen with a stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, kettle and coffee maker. If you have only booked accommodation you have to cook your own food. A simple breakfast can be purchased in case you have forgotten to buy food before your arrival.

Things to do

At Haugun you are close to the sky, surrounded by beautiful nature with traces of time. You can stroll around our farm taking in the view or gaze at the stars next to the bonfire. During the summer you might want to try an old Norwegian game called «Horseshoe», and during the winter months you can go skiing down the hills.

It is also quite nice just relaxing in front of the fireplace indoors, and we are happy to lend you one of our many board games. If it is cold outside you might want to try our sauna.
